Founded in 1992, Buffalo Creek hosts guests from around the world. Our clients include families and first-time hunters as well as corporations and Weatherby Award winners.
We hold life memberships in Safari Club International, International Professional Hunters Association, Dallas Safari Club, Exotic Wildlife Association, NRA and SCI-Italian Chapter.
01/19
Antlered Game (except Axis) -- August 15-March 15
Axis and all other exotics available year-round.
Whitetail, turkey and other native game species are regulated by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. For current information about seasons and licenses see https://tpwd.texas.gov
If you are hunting only exotics, a special 5 day license is required. This license does not apply to native game species. If you are hunting whitetail, you will need the general license which will cover exotics as well.
We recommend that you contact the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (https://tpwd.texas.gov) and arrange for the purchase of your hunting license prior to your arrival.
Buffalo Creek Ranch is located about 100 miles northwest of San Antonio, Texas. The San Antonio International Airport serves most major carriers. Airport transfers (pick up and drop off) can be arranged for a nominal fee. Several local airports are available for hunters flying private aircraft. We will provide information on request.
The Ranch is easily accessible by car; your GPS app will guide you directly to the main gate. The physical address is: 2090 Allegra Ranch Road, Leakey, TX 78873

PRICES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE
PAYMENT
Trophy Fees and Daily Guide Fees are quoted and payable in US Dollars*. We accept cash, checks, electronic funds transfer and major credit cards. Credit card payment is limited to $10,000.00 and will be subject to a 3% convenience fee which will be added to the final invoice by your credit card issuer.
GRATUITIES
Your hunting invoice does not include gratuities (we refer to such payment as “tips” in the US). It is usual and customary to tip the guide and the camp staff for their service at the close of the hunt. Such gratuities are not included in the regular fees and are deeply appreciated by staff members. Tips are the best way to say, “Thank you for a job well done”. Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any questions.
CLOTHING
The Texas Hill Country has a generally temperate climate, however, from November through March, we recommend that hunters equip themselves for cold weather. A layered approach including a medium weight, insulated jacket, gloves and a warm hat, is the best bet. Blaze orange is not required.
During the rest of the year, lightweight hunting clothes are fine. Camo is permitted but is not required for most hunting. Snake proof boots are not necessary. While rain is not usually a problem, a light rain jacket or poncho is worth packing.
EQUIPMENT
“Broken-in" hiking boots, binoculars, rifle sling, soft gun case, sunglasses. A Swiss Army Knife or Leatherman-type tool is an excellent addition. Eyeglass wearers should bring a spare pair.
RIFLES
Any flat shooting outfit with which you have practiced and sighted-in. We strongly recommend that each hunter shoot at least 40-60 rounds of the same ammunition he will use in the field, before he leaves home. The Ranch has excellent sight-in facilities for fine tuning and pre-hunt testing. Rental rifles are available at reasonable daily rates.
Ideal calibers include:
.270 Win., .30-06, .308 Win., 7mm-08
Magnum calibers are not required but are a definite advantage if African game, elk or heavy game are to be hunted. No matter what you intend to hunt, make sure you can accurately place your shots. Bring at least 20 rounds of ammunition per rifle.
TAXIDERMY
There are many excellent taxidermists in the area available for trophy mounting or expediting. Information will be provided upon request.
MEALS & LODGING
For hunters who wish to stay on the ranch, we offer First Class lodging with en suite bathrooms. We only host one hunting party at a time so you will have the Ranch to yourself during your hunt. Please advise if you have any preferences or dietary requirements and we will do our best to accommodate you.
If you prefer to arrange for your own meals and lodging, there is excellent local lodging and restaurant service. Year-round RV facilities are available within 2 miles of the Ranch and information will be provided upon request.
Buffalo Creek Ranch can give you a great hunt for great game animals without the hassle! Hunt African Plains Game without worrying about killer viruses and political upheaval!
Ready to book with us? Have a question about our hunting lodge? We'll be happy to help!
We recommend that you plan to spend at least one full hunting day for each trophy you seek. As in all real hunting, we can make no guarantees about taking trophies. If you do your part, we can guarantee a great hunting experience and a chance to take a record book trophy.
